We have to admit, baking soda has been lying around in our kitchen like forever- I used to use it just for baking. Since youtube and beauty hacks (especially natural )became a thing I was quietly surprised to know that this simple white powder could do so much.

Since then baking soda has become a staple product in my household. I use it right form heavy duty cleaning to baking a cup of cake. For those of you who don’t know already I have put together of the most versatile use of this white powder so that next time you shop, you make sure that definitely grab a packet of baking powder.

Baking soda is incredibly versatile, here are some of them:

  • Acne

Most of us have had acne at some point in our lives, some still struggle while for some it goes away naturally. Instead of going for those pricey treatments try applying 4 teaspoons of baking soda and water paste on the affected area. It is inexpensive and easily available. Let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it off once dry and apply an oil-free moisturizer on the area. Repeat this remedy 2 times a week, you will notice your acne disappearing just like that.

  • Scrub away for perfect skin

Skin whitening has been a taboo topic around the world. I don’t personally support skin whitening creams or treatments but for those who want it so badly, try getting it naturally. The color of the skin is genetic and trying to alter it artificially can be dangerous. But you can make your skin appear brighter, clear and smooth with good old baking soda.

Baking soda helps in removing dead cells, dirt and excess oil from skin that clogs the pores, to prepare this exfoliating scrub, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to your daily facial cleanser and mix well. Apply this on the affected area leave on for 5 to 10 min and gently scrub away all the dead skin cells and impurities. Repeat this for about 3 times a week to see visible results.

Baking soda works as a soothing lather for treating sunburns and tan. Excessive exposure to the sun can cause pain and redness to the skin. When you apply baking soda it instantly soothes and relieves you from the burning sensation and itching. To make the best and most effective soothing mixture, mix  4 tablespoons of baking soda with cold water in a glass bowl, dab this using a cotton ball on the affected area, lev it on for 30 minutes and rinse it off. The results are instant.

  • Natural Deodorant

Baking soda works as a natural deodorant. All one has to do is apply some lose baking soda on the armpits. If that’s doesn’t seem ok with you-you can also mix baking soda with water and apply it on the armpits as a mask. Once dry rinse them off and you are good to go.
